Northville All Conference Selections |
Lead | ||
|
From the by-laws it looks like they get to pick 7 players. Mustang fans, players and whoever else would like to comment, who are they. I have them picked but
I will wait and see if it is a popularity contest or based on actual performance and dedication.

7 all conference + 4 honorable mentions | #1
|
My 11 picks for Northville are (not in any particular order): All-Conference: Stearns, walton, Alandt, McLarin, Galdes, Smith, Mills Honorable Mention: Wegzyn,
Robideau, Celentino, and McLean I'm sure I am forgetting someone. Perhaps Levi Perry? I think coach will favor the seniors with the honors if he can.

I have 3 maybe 4 of your top 7 and only 1 of your HM would make top seven or HM.

So who are your picks? I don't think mine are based on popularity but on the players who have produced all season long. In your opinion. who did I miss and
who should or shouldn't be there?

I will await others response. Without naming names, one player you picked has only played in two games, one great game and was awful last week against WLN.
Very surprised at that pick. Couple other players have had some good plays in games but does not make a season. Look at the unsung heroes that make it
work???

I think you are mistaken | #5

Just checked the stats at NorthvilleMustangs.com and all of the players on my list have played in more than 6 games. I am confused by your comments. Thru 8
games (stats are not up for the last game) McLean has 47 tackles (30 solo); Galdes has 35 (30 solo); McLarin has 33 (29 solo); Stearn has 36 (28 solo); Walton
has 29 (25 solo); and Celentino has 30 (24 solo). On offense Alandt is the leading rusher averaging 5 1/2 yds per carry, Smith is next, and Wegzyn is third.
Alandt and Mills are the leading receivers. (Don't forget Alandt was a force on defense too and Mills stepped in at QB to save the game twice.) When it
isn't raining Wegzyn is a talented pro style QB who was very effective when his receivers didn't drop or miss the ball.

Only names not on my second list that were on the first list were Robideau and Perry - and I said MAYBE Perry. Besides, both of these guys played in more than
2 games. You are mistaken when you say one of the guys on my list only played in two games. Check the stats and you will see. Perry only caught passes in
two games but he carried the ball in at least six games. Robideau kicked and played on offense every game. Don't know who you think only played in two
games. As for unsung heros, the offensive line has been the weakest part of Northville's game this entire season. If the QBs had a line that gave them
more than 1 second to get rid of the ball, maybe Northville would have better offensive stats. The defense is what got Northville to playoffs and the defense
deserves to be awarded for their play. So do the offensive players that succeeded in spite of the O line. Without a list of your players, it is hard to have
a discussion.

Not sure which players you are thinking of by the positions. Not even certain who started how many games -- you must have been watching that more closely than I was. It will be interesting to see who gets it. Looks like our opinions are very different. I guess you are talking about McGowan and Buffone on the O Line. Buffone has been amazing the past three years but he has been inconsistent this year and has not played as well as he has in the past. McGowan has done well but has also been inconsistent - I think he will be amazing next year. Don't know who you mean when you say "its not a popularity contest". Didn't know anyone in particular was all that popular.

I'm afraid there won't be much to watch vs. Stevenson.

You never know. Regardless, making the playoffs was an accomplishment in itself.

Northville football has been bad for years and I don't see it getting better anytime in the near future. This senior class was the best the school has seen
in the past 4 or 5 years. The coaches lost that game last night. Poor seniors! They deserved better. I hope they get what they deserve with all conference
honors. The junior can wait.

The senior class only lost one game their freshmen season and went undefeated their soph season. THIS WAS THE YEAR. There are some talented juniors but not
the play makers Mills and Galdes and Stern are. I think coaching was a huge issue this season, especially offensive coaching. Coaching is always an issue at
Northville. The former head coach was only offensive minded - this new guy put too much into defensive and not enough into offense. I've watched too many
years of Northville football to be anything but frustrated. Jake Weddle is sad he didn't leave Northville sooner because his football experience is so
much better now. My kids are gone after this year so I won't have to be frustrated any longer. Good luck to the juniors and sophomores.

As far as AC honors, I don't know of anyone lobbying for it - kids or parents. Okay, there is one back that is lobbying, but he is one of the most
unpopular guys on the team. I think this is just your perception.
